The rotting sea, filled with semi-decayed sea creatures, reminds of mortality and impermanence. Once flourishing creatures caught by the inevitable process of rotting that sets in only when it is not receiving the proper care, sped up by the hands of man. Mare Putrefatto reflects on the current problems of environmental pollution and the continuous process of extinction in the oceans.
