Life brings along changes in which fragility grows with age. Humans become older and wiser, yet fragility shows its face more with each coming day. Using thinly-veiled symbolism, the metamorphosis stands for the process of growing older and going through the different stages of life. The younger caterpillar, while

physically fortified, is at danger of being eaten, only to evolve into a creature so adaptable yet physically fragile in nature.
